Thirteen Cents translated into Norwegian. |

Dear SASN!
I have very recently translated the South African writer Kabelo Sello Duiker's novel Thirteen Cents into Norwegian.
And I wonder if I may kindly ask you to put some info about it on your website, as I assume quite a few of your members/visitors would be interested to read (about) it. After all, South African writers - except, of course Gordimer, Brink and Coetzee - but not young, black writers - are very rarely translated into Norwegian.
I was so moved by the novel that it made me travel to South Africa and visit the writer's family (unfortunately Sello Duiker himself passed away some years ago) - see the enclosed picture.

The South African Society in Norway is a voluntary forum for the cultural and social interests of its members and other individuals or groups affiliated with South Africa in any way. We aim to promote a positive and realistic picture of South Africa and focus on our commonalities and the wealth in our diversity. While SASN is party-politically neutral, we enjoy cooperation with the South African Embassy in Norway.
Our members represent a broad cross section of South African society, and include many Norwegians. We arrange activities which promote both the formal and informal exchange of ideas and experiences, and for people to get to know each other and have fun!
Membership:
Membership fees for 2011 are as follows:
- NOK 250 for single membership
- NOK 400 for family membership
- Honorary membership for persons over the age of 67 years, who have either served on the board or who have been members for some years will be exempted from paying membership fees
We request that membership fees be paid by the 31st March 2011. Membership fees paid after that date will accrue an extra fee of NOK 50,-. It`s essential that membership fees are paid in the first quarter of 2011, due to planning of events. Membership runs from 1st January until 31st December.

We request that you please indicate very clearly your full names (all names of persons within the family, children's included) in the "melding" space. This will help us to consolidate the records and get to "know" the family.
Membership fees cover: administration, board meetings, development and planning of SASN events and future projects, web solutions, logistics. As a member you qualify for discounts on certain events as well as gift packs at the end of the year.
